And That’s How I Ended up Using TrulyMadly

It was Friday afternoon and my Whatsapp was flooded with invitations to the most happening parties at Hauz Khas Village and DLF Cyber Hub (modest much?). Friday parties were all about hanging out with my close friends, and discussing about my startup struggle, which was, frankly, no one’s idea of fun. Isn’t it strange that work is always the topic of discussion at every social gathering?
I remembered one of my friends mentioning the dating app TrulyMadly at a house party a few weeks ago. And there I was, filling my online dating profile!! The process of creating a profile which at first seemed lengthy, but it helps you find the right match based on your likes and dislikes. I wasn’t expecting a miracle within couple of hours so my Friday was quite an uneventful one.
It wasn’t until Saturday morning that I received my first mutual match. Of course, I had ‘liked’ a few girls, but no one had liked me back till then(shit happens with the best, guys!). You cannot message anyone on the app unless both of you ‘like’ each other.
There is a different kind of excitement of seeing your first match through a dating platform. Who ought to say hi first? Should I send her a sticker? Do I compliment her? I didn’t quite know the do’s and don’ts of online dating etiquette so I decided to go with the flow. Our conversation started with a simple ‘Hi’ on Saturday afternoon and we exchanged quite a few messages till evening. We exchanged numbers and continued talking on Whatsapp. Later, I found out that the girl was fine with exchanging numbers since my profile was completely verified on TM. Never knew that carried a lot of credibility!
While driving back from work (yes, I work on Saturdays, go on, judge me!), I asked her about her plans for the evening and she was hanging out with her friends at Turquoise Cottage. An hour later, she asked me if I would like to join her. Never would have I imagined to go on and meet someone in less than 12 hours of the first conversation on a virtual platform. We hit it off really well- had a couple of drinks, danced together, and clearly there was no awkward vibe between us!
Ever since then we have been in touch and I do meet her every now and then for a few drinks! It’s not a hook up platform but a platform to meet like-minded individuals. However, people may want to get into anything serious. It’s this freedom on the app, that allows you to choose your kind of a match, that makes it super cool.
My startup never allows me time to devote to a serious relationship. So, I simply meet new people to chill, have a good time, and have them listen to my startup struggle 😉
